On November 28, Ufa Eyr Research Institute held a scientific conference titled "Debatable Issues in Clinical Ophthalmology".
Approximately 200 ophthalmologists from Ufa and other cities and districts in the Republic of Bashkortostan attended the event in person. Over 100 ophthalmologists from the Republic of Bashkortostan and other Russian cities, such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Saratov, Sochi, and Tyumen, as well as from nearby countries - Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, participated online.
The program of the Conference included 11 talks on various aspects of diagnosing and treating patients with ophthalmic disorders.
The conference began with opening remarks by the director of Ufa Eye Research Institute, Professor Mukharram Bikbov.
Conference sessions began with lectures by Professor Songhomitra Panda-Jonas from the Rothschild Foundation Hospital, French Institute of Myopia in Paris, France, focusing on corneal and retinal pathology. Afterwards, residents and students actively responded to the speaker's questions, attempting to make correct diagnoses based on photographs of various ophthalmic conditions.

Professor Jost Jonas of the Rothschild Foundation Hospital and the French Institute of Myopia in Paris, France, delivered a talk on myopia and age-related macular degeneration. He focused on identifying their common features despite their distinct nature as pathologies.
Professor Sergei Petrov from the Helmholtz National Medical Research Center of Eye Diseases presented the perspectives of an ophthalmic surgeon on the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma in patients with advanced stages of the disease.
Professor Irina Vorobyeva, from the RUDN University in Moscow, discussed the use of innovative drugs in ophthalmology. K. I. Kudoyarova, from Ufa Eye Research Institute, spoke about the role of pharmacotherapy in preventing infectious and inflammatory complications during the postoperative period in ophthalmic surgery.
Gulnara Israfilova, from Ufa Eye Research Institute, outlined the main types of conservative treatment for patients with eye diseases.
Ilya Kukes, head of the research and clinical department of the International association of clinical pharmacologists and pharmacists in Moscow, dedicated his report to the issue of comorbidity from the perspective of an immunologist and clinical pharmacologist for ophthalmologists.
Elina Yakupova, head of the department of integrative ophthalmology at Ufa Eye Research Institute, discussed the connection between obesity and the development of ophthalmic diseases. A.V. Insapova, a researcher in the Department of Ophthalmicl and Medical Epidemiology, spoke about the differential diagnosis of red eye.
Kristina Sherstobitova, an ophthalmologist at Birsk Central District Hospital, presented a clinical case of congenital hypertrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium as a manifestation of a hereditary intestinal disease.
The conference program was comprehensive. Interesting and informative. Presentations covering various aspects of diagnosing and treating patients with eye disorders provided attendees with new knowledge and practical recommendations for their clinical practice.
