TOPICAL QUESTIONS OF GLAUCOMA TREATMENT

On March 3, 2017, the following meetings were held:
- the meeting of Bashkir regional branch of Russian Society of Ophthalmologists,
-a regional office for the Republic of Bashkortostan of All-Russian Public Organization "Association of Ophthalmologists" which took place in the form of a conference devoted to topical issues of the treatment of glaucoma. More than 200 ophthalmologists of the republic took part in its work.

Scientific programme of the conference included reports on issues of conservative and surgical treatment, case management of glaucoma patients after drainage surgery, etc. Within the framework of the conference the exhibition of diagnostic equipment and modern ocular hypotensive medications was held.

The conference was opened by the Deputy Director for Clinical Affairs of Ufa Eye Research Institute, Ph.D. Z. Marvanova, who welcomed the participants and presented a report on the results of the work of the ophthalmologic service of the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2016.
A great interest of ophthalmologists of the Republic was attracted by the report of the head of the glaucoma department of Samara Clinical Regional Hospital n. a. T. Eroshevsky and the head of Laboratory of Pathology of Hydrodynamics and Eye Accomodation of Eye Research Institute SamGMU, Ph.D. E. Karlova, in which she presented data on the incidence of glaucoma in Samara region and highlighted the rational therapy of this disease.

The following reports were presented:

-          Epidemiological aspects of glaucoma in the Republic of Bashkortostan (holder of Habilitation degree in Medicine, A. Babushkin)

-          Peculiarities of treatment of patients with macular edema in the setting of glaucoma (holder of Habilitation degree in Medicine, R. Fayzrakhmanov)

-          Case management of patients after glaucoma drainage surgery (holder of Doctorate degree in Medicine, I. Khusnitdinov)

-          Treatment of glaucoma in children (holder of Habilitation degree in Medicine, I. Zaidullin)

-          Features of tear-replacement therapy in primary glaucoma (holder of Doctorate degree in Medicine, A. Akmanova)

The keen interest of the listeners of the conference was aroused by a live broadcast from Novosibirsk on the subject of the treatment of corneal pathology "Keratoplasty. Professional approach, experience and intuition. " During the teleconference the leading researcher of the Institute, holder of Doctorate degree in Medicine E. Usubov presented a report on "Modern approaches in corneal surgery with the use of preserved material."

The meeting of the regional branch for the Republic of Bashkortostan of All-Russian Public Organization "Association of Ophthalmologists" was held in a businesslike atmosphere, with lively discussion of reports.

MODERN ASPECTS OF GLAUCOMA SURGERY

The master class is presented by demonstration of video films and clinical analysis of non-standard and complex cases of treatment of patients with glaucoma in the practice of an ophthalmic surgeon. The goal is to train ophthalmologists in decision-making skill training in non-standard situations during surgical interventions in glaucoma.
